*Cairo/Ellensboro
Rail Trail Tunnels, North Bend Rail Trail. Built as a main line
of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad during the pre-Civil War period,
the rail bed bow serves as a hiking and biking trail. The rail tunnels
are a major feature of the developing rail trail and serves as a testament
to this inportant and historic American engineering feat.

*Elizabeth
Wells Lock and Dam, Wells Lock Park, off WV Rt. 14 on Wells
Lock Rd. near Elizabeth. Site of the sole remaining functional dam
and remnants of the navigational locks built in the 1800’s to facilitate
commercial traffic on the Little Kanawha River.

Ruble Log Church, off WV Rt, 5 on Chestnut Run Road near
Elizabeth. Built in 1835 of hand-hewn logs. One of the oldest churches
in West Virginia still hosting regular church services.

*Glenville.
Job’s Temple, WV Rt. 5 on the Little Kanawha Scenic Byway
between Grantsville and Glenville. One of the oldest church
structures remaining in West Virginia , this restored log church
continues to periodically host church services.

*Pennsboro
The Oldest Stone House, 300 Myles Ave., Pennsboro. A
museum housing early Ritchie County artifacts, the house dates
from the early 1800’s, originally serving as a Stagecoach Stop
and Inn on one of America’s first turnpikes.Open during the
Country Roads festival on Labor Day Weekend, during the

register of historic Places, the Federal-style brick house is among
the town’s oldest remaining buildings. Adjacent to the historic

Adena Burial Mound, WV Rt. 2 North, St. Marys, A prime
example of the hundreds of ancient Adena Culture burial mounds
which once dotted the Ohio River Valley, this site is adjacent to
Town & Country Scenic Byway and is listed on the National Register

Canoes, flat bottom, and inflatable boats are the craft of
choice on this winding stream. Outstanding game fishing
and unspoiled scenery through isolated wooded valleys
make a trip on the Hughes and its main tributaries a
memorable outdoor experience.

*Little Kanawha River
Float trips are the fare on this meandering river via canoe,
inflatable and fishing craft. Enjoy natural surroundings, or
outstanding warm water game fishing. Public stream access
at Elizabeth, Grantsville and Glenville.

*Middle Island Creek
A creek in name only, this stream is marked by long deep
pools spiced with runnable shallow rapids. Famous for its
abundance of game fish, it also offers excellent float trips.
Public access at St Marys, Arvilla and Blue.

*Ohio River
This most streatch of the Ohio River is a mecca for boaters.
Water ski, jet ski or cruise. Home to the Ohio River Islands
National Wildlife Range. Access at Paden City, Sistersville,

Tracey Lake & Reservoir Area
11- acre impoundment 3 miles northwest of Pennsboro.
Stocked with trout each January and March. small boat
launching ramp (electric motors only). Bluegill, catfish,
largemouth bass.

Willow Island Locks and Dam
On WV Rt. 2 five miles south of St. Marys on the Ohio River.
Public access to swift waters below the dam. Outstanding shore
