2.THOMAS MARKS
     Thomas Marks was born about 1774 in Frederick County MD and moved to Cedar Creek, Gilmer County VA (WV) about 1828.  His first wife was Sarah Queen, who died in 1809.  Thomas married Sally Jones in Harrison County June 12, 1809.  Sally died in Gilmer County in 1839.    Thomas married a widow, Mary (Starr) [Nutter] Steel in Harrison County VA December 30, 1855.  Mary, a daughter of Moses Starr, was in Harrison County VA in 1787.  She married William Nutter in Harrison County November 5, 1804.  William died after 1825 and she then married John Steel.

     John Marks, a son of Thomas and Sarah (Queen) Marks, was born about 1803, probably in Frederick County, Maryland.  He married Rebecca (Norman) Greenleaf. Rebecca, a daughter of James and Mary (Nedley) Norman, was born about 1802.  She was the widow of a Greenleaf.

9.HIRAM MARKS
     Hiram Marks, a son of Thomas and Sarah (Queen) Marks, was born about 1809.  He married Sarah A. Johnson, who was born in VA about 1809.  Hiram apparently died between 1850 and 1860, since Sarah is listed as a head of a household in the 1860 Gilmer County VA (WV) census.

10.NANCY MARKS
     Nancy Marks, a daughter of Thomas and Sally (Jones) Marks, was born in Harrison County VA (WV) about 1812.  She married a widower, Zepeniah Nichols Jr. Zepeniah, a son of Zepeniah and Rebecca (Davis) Nichols, was born in Randolph County VA (WV) about 1800.  He married Catharine McElwain in Nichols County VA
(WV) Sep 25, 1825.  Catharine, a daughter of Tunis and Catharine (Propst) McElwain, was born in Pendleton County, VA (WV) January 26, 1808.  Apparently Catharine died after 1839.

     Morgan Marks, a son of Thomas and Sally (Jones) Marks, was born in Harrison County VA (WV) August 11, 1814 and died in Calhoun County WV May 29, 1892.  He married Sarah Cain August 22, 1840.  Sarah, who may have been a daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Kelly (Wilson) Cain, was born in Va May 8, 1816 and died in Calhoun County in 1892.

15.HIERS MARKS
    Hiers Marks, a son of Thomas and Sally (Jones) Marks, was born in Lewis County VA (WV) about 1821 and died in Gilmer County WV in 1894.His will was probated in Gilmer County March 5, 1894.  He married Permilia Edwards in Lewis County VA (WV.). Permilia was born in Harrison County VA (WV) about 1827.

16.PEREGRINE MARKS
    Peregrine "Perry" Marks, a son of Thomas and Sally (Jones) Marks, was born 1822 and died at Camp Parole, MD December 8, 1864. He married Mary Edwards. Mary was born about 1824.    Perry served the Union in the Civil War in Co B 9th W.Va. Volunteer Infantry.  He died of acute diarrhea in Camp Parole, MD, where he had been sent as a paroled prisoner of war.

18.DEBORAH MARKS
     Deborah Marks, a daughter of Thomas and Sally (Jones) Marks, was born in Lewis County VA (WV) April 10, 1830 and died in Calhoun County, WV April 13, 1885.  She first married William Harrison Jarvis about 1844.  William, a son of Thomas and Ailsey B. (Connally) Jarvis, was born in Lewis County VA (WV) about 1825.     The couple divorced in 1858.  William married Catharine Barber about 1858 and Deborah married James Goldsmith in Calhoun County VA (WV) September 15, 1860.  James, a son of Robert and Lindy Goldsmith, was born in Harrison County VA (WV) about 1835. Deborah married Wesley Brooks in Calhoun County February 26, 1876.  Her monument in the Clark Jarvis cemetery in Calhoun County WV reads "Deby Brox."

    Lucinda Marks, a daughter of John and Rebecca (Norman) [Greenleaf] Marks, was born in Harrison county Virginia (WV) about 1833 and apparently died about 1860. She married James J. Norman in Gilmer County Va (WV) March 21, 1851.  James, a son Isaac and Susan (Jackson) Norman, was born in Monongalia County VA (WV) September 13, 1819.     James married Martha F. Moss in Gilmer County July 8, 1862. Martha born in 1842 in Buckingham County VA.
