William H. Bishop's "History of Roane County, WV" states that the first known Mace came to Maryland from England just prior to the American Revolution, that he was loyal to King George and "...was soon killed by the zealots of the Revolution." Apparently there was more than one Mace line in VA at the time of the Revolution and Bishop was writing about a different line.
1.ISAAC MACE
Isaac Mace was born in Augusta County VA July 16, 1755 and enlisted in
the Continental Army as a substitute for Abram Brake in 1781 and served
under Captains Hopkins and Cunningham. He was granted a pension in
1833. Deweese mentioned Isaac Mace and he mentions only two children.
The 100 year old Mary Mace listed in the Patrick Connolly household in
the 1850 Gilmer County,VA census is probably Isaac Mace's widow.

2.HENRY MACE
According to Bishop's History, Henry Mace, a son of Isaac Mace, moved to
the Monongahela valley and lived for a few years. He married Mary Davis
in that area and moved to Bulltown, Braxton County VA (WV) in the early
1800's. He then moved to the area of present day Sutton, WV. We know
that Henry was a veteran of the War of 1812. Henry is next found
on the West Fork of the little Kanawha River about 1825, near present day
Arnoldsburg, Calhoun County, WV. His second wife was Sarah
Coger, a daughter of Peter and Mary (McElwain) Coger.

Archibald Mace was a son of Henry and Sarah (Coger) Mace. Calhoun County,
WV marriage records list John Bennett performing a marriage ceremony on
July 29, 1865 of 28 year old Archibald Mace to 17 year old Martha Hosking.
Martha, a daughter of Richard and Prudence (Martin) Hosking, was born in
Ritchie County, Virginia (WV) December 18, 1846 and died in Roane County
WV May 24, 1924. The 1880 Roane County census lists "Archie"
and Martha. After Archibald's death, Martha married Perry
Hudkins.

Nancy Mace, a daughter of Henry and Sarah (Coger) Mace, was born in 1831.
She married Paulcer Parsons October 26, 1856 in Calhoun County VA (WV),
with the ceremony performed by William A. Brannon. Paulcer, a son of Joseph
and Elizabeth (Bush) Parsons, was born in Lewis County VA (WV) in July
1823 and died in Calhoun County WV after 1880. He first married Statira
Connally in Kanawha County VA (WV) October 11, 1842. Statira, a daughter
of Patrick and Mary (Stallman) Connally, was born September 10, 1825 and
died in Calhoun County April 29, 1856.
