22.GIVEN LYNCH
Given Lynch, a son of George and Mary (Given) Lynch, was born in Nicholas
County VA (WV) August 20, 1823. He first married Sarah Waggoner.
Sarah, a daughter of Peter and Sarah (Oswalt) Waggoner, was born 1819 in
Stark (Carroll) County, Ohio. An April 23, 1855 letter preserved by the
Waggoners, records: "Sarah and her family is well. She is living on the
west fork of Kanawha. Giv has left his family and is gone off with a young
girl and I suppose
he is living in Wisconsin now." Sarah lived where she could and in
later years she lived with her son, William. Given married Anna Nichols
on April 18, 1860, in Calhoun county. Anna, a daughter of Solomon
and Dorotha (McElwain) Nichols, was born in Calhoun County VA (WV) in Jan
1835. In the 1900 census of Lee District, Calhoun county, Annie was
a sixty-five year old widow living with her unmarried son James and
daughter, Rockselena.

born May 20, 1838 and died June 29, 1907. He married Jemima Mace.

in 1925.

in Gilmer County VA (WV) about 1834 and died in Vinton County OH.
He married Harriet Burleigh in Gilmer county. Harriet was born in
VA about 1835. The family moved to Vinton County OH after 1870.

Thomas B. Lynch, a son of Paricle John and Roannah (Stout) Lynch, was born
about 1847 and died in Gilmer County WV January 8, 1871. He married
Sarah McKee. Sarah, a daughter of John and Ruth McKee, was born about 1847.
Thomas served the Union in the Civil War in Co F 1st W.Va. Cavalry.
He enlisted in 1861, was wounded and captured at Bull Run December 17,
1862 and was mustered out July 8, 1863. He reenlisted as a Veteran
Volunteer December 23, 1863.

Joseph Knotts Lynch, a son of George Jr. and Jemima Lynch, was born in
Nicholas County VA (WV) December 18, 1845 and died of fever about February
16, 1895. He married Lidia Frances Whytsell in Calhoun County WV August
7, 1868. Lidia, a daughter of Emanuel H. and Catherine (Whitezel)
Whytsell was born in Rockingham County VA March 20, 1850 and died of fever
February 2, 1895 in Calhoun County WV.
Immediately following Joseph's funeral, his nine minor children were divided
amongst relatives.
