Sotha Hickman, a son of Arthur and Mary (Douglas) Hickman, was born in
Montgomery County MD about 1735. Sotha came to Harrison County VA
(WV) in the fall of 1771. He brought his family to Harrison County
in 1773 and they lived our their live there. Sotha claimed that his
son Arthur was the first white child born in Harrison County.
Sotha's name appears on a payroll record of Captain William Lowther's Company
of VA militia for 1774. He is credited with 132 days service in Lord
Dunmore's Ohio expedition in 1774. Captain Lowther's company was in the
battle of Point Pleasant in 1774, so Sotha must have been there.
His wife is unknown.
