Addie Beatrice (Gay) Johnson
Addie Beatrice Gay, was born in Lewis County, West Virginia, the fourth born to George and Lucinda (Freeman) Gay. She was a small build, dainty and neat; quiet and easy going. Perhaps to much so; she worked very hard to keep a neat and orderly home, everything always appeared in place and was, that’s how she ran her “ship”.
Addie Beatrice “Bea” never became unraveled at anyone’s expense. Angry?......I would imagine, but I can’t say I ever saw her so. Although the trials and troubles of some of the mischief and problems the off springs created would certainly try her patience that’s for sure. She would relate many tales about the kids getting into mischief, and laugh a lot as she related these stories, especially about the two boys, Eldon and Darrell.
She is greatly missed and long remembered. I wish all her great-grand children could have been so lucky to have known her one on one.
“Bea” died January 27, 1988 age 78 of an extended illness. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston, Lewis Co., WV

Mary Leatha (Gay) Duncan
Mary Leatha Gay, the sixth born to George and Lucinda (Freeman) Gay, was born at Oil Creek, Lewis Co., WV. She married Henry Duncan the son of Jesse and Martha (Talkington) Duncan. Henry was born at Gyp, West Virginia. The Duncan’s left the Weston, West Virginia area where they were married in 1942. Henry worked for Weirton Steel during World War II; they were both very active in church where Henry held many different positions. When Henry retired, Leatha and he moved to Parkersburg, West Virginia in 1970’s; they built a new home there; both loved country music, singing, camping and travel. They spent several winters in Florida.
Leatha, loved homemaking, gardening and flowers and singing, liked living in Florida.
Henry, died result of stroke in hospital; Leatha, at home from A.L.S. (Lou Gerhigs Disease). Interment in Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg, West Virginia..
