In the past, we need to know as much of our past as we can. The health, longivity, cause of death, physical traits, physical features and personalities of our ancesters are in part reflected in us, be it good or bad. If we know this we may profit from it and cope with it for the better and avoid the downfall.
Our research was accumilated over many years. It is not compiled for literery worth or for monetary gain. It is compiled so those who come after may know a part of "From Whence They Came".

In the history of Anderson Co., SC, there is an accounting by Mrs. Samuel Dean, of their move from Maryland to South Carolina some years after the Revolutionary War.
The Story Goes
The family came to this wilderness
in a cart whose wheels were made from a section of a big tree. Traveling
for weeks through pathless forests. They settled on what became known as
the DEAN PLACE, there they raised (10) ten
children.
Most of the
family in later years went west. There is no record of Samuel Dean receiving
a land grant based on thr Revolutionary war in South Carolina.
Samuel’s
will dated 9-25-1826, left his wife one third of his real and personal
property during her life time. To his sons Aaron and Moses Dean all his
land of 130 acres. The rest of his estate divided between heirs as follows;
Thomas Dean, Miram McGregor, Joseph dean, Samuel Dean, Mary Millhouse,
the heirs of John Dean, deceased, Obediah, Elizabeth, Matason, Samuel,
Rhoda and Joseph these six children to receive their father’s legacy; to
son’s Richard, Griffith and Moses whereas I sold property to Joseph Dean
and now hold note for $600 payable to the heirs of son John.
This will
was probated by son Samuel Dean and will disallowed because of the legates
of witnesses. The estate took a long time to settle from 9-25-1826 to 3-27-1843.
Jennifer
(James) Dean’s will dated 12-6-1834 left a slave to each of the following;
grandson James, daughter Meram McGregor, grandson Silas MCGregor, granddaughter
Mirah McGregor. All the rest of her estate was left to daughter Miram McGregor.
